UNION PRINTMAKERS ATELIER ( 926 N St (rear) NW) is
pleased to announce its FALL OPEN HOUSE. Friday October
21, 6pm-10.00pm. Please come to view new prints, enjoy
printmaking demonstrations and toast our future. Prints
and drawings by Scip Barnhart, William Christenberry,
David Chung, John Driesbach, Jenny Freestone, Fred Folsom,
Kerry Mc-Aleer-Keeler, Jody Mussof, Robert Nelson, Judith
Nulty, Russell Richards, Thomas Seawell and Claudia Vess,
and many others. Also "Powerpoint" a Drypoint Portfolio by
15 Washington area artists.
Strictly Painting 5 opens June 16th
at the
McLean Project for the Arts. It should be an
exceptionally good show of paintings by Mid-Atlantic
artists. The show was juried by one of the leading
curators of contemporary art in America today - Jonathan
P. Binstock, Curator of Contemporary Art, Corcoran Gallery
of Art. Exhibition dates June 16 - July 30
Be sure to see “Both Side of the River”, new
paintings by Barbara Kerne at the
Loudoun Campus Waddell Gallery, Northern Virginia
Community College.
The exhibition runs June 6 through July 1.
Zenith Gallery delights us with an exhibition of
Stephen Hansen’s witty paper mache sculptures and
drawings June 23 through July 24th. The show
titled, “For Better or Worse” is based on the theme of
relationships.
Empowered Women International & A Woman’s Story
Gallery present on June 23, 7-9 PM at
Arlington Arts Center the Exhibition: Summer Accents &
First EWI Artists Graduation. The
event showcases the art of 18 foreign-born and American
artists who participated in the EWI Entrepreneurial Art
Training. Exhibiting Artists will be demonstrating
sculptural processes, felt making, portrait painting,
silk painting, handcrafted jewelry and culinary art. Art
Available for Sale. Cash and Checks Only..

Empowered Women International to the art
organization portion of the site. EWI is a
volunteer-driven organization which provides a network of
support and creates opportunities for immigrant and
refugee women in the metro D.C. area, using the arts for
empowerment, communication, cultural understanding, and
entrepreneurship.
Romanian immigrant and activist Marga Fripp founded EWI in
2002, based on her unwavering belief in the resilience of
immigrant and refugee women and her personal commitment to
advancing women’s futures while celebrating their origins.
A schedule of upcoming events: Craft a Successful
Marketing Plan; Financing Your Business - Loan Resources;
Records, Tax Preparation, Simple Budgets and Projections;
and Approaching Donors and Funding Resources for Artists.
