Robert J. Barber’s Lunch at Mason’s won the Grand Prize at the 2007 Plein Air–Easton! Competition. Join Barber and more than 50 other artists from across the country as they converge on Easton and Talbot County for the East Coast’s premier plein air festival–the 4th Annual Plein Air–Easton! Competition & Arts Festival. This weeklong event (July 21-27) is producing some of the best representational art in America today, created by some of the nation’s finest plein air painters. Artists, collectors, and art enthusiasts alike have discovered that this region is a plein air painters paradise. Festival features a national competition, museum exhibit and sales of freshly made paintings, exclusive Collectors Preview Party, two hour “Quick Draw” competition followed by art exhibit and sale, gallery shows, and Winners Paint-Out & Brunch with live art auction.

On July 26, join F. Lennox Campello at the Academy Art Museum for “From the Artist’s Palette to Your Collection,” a new signature event that embodies Plein Air–Easton’s slogan “Art for Everyone.”  Campello, a widely respected artist, art critic, and leading arts blogger (dcartnews.blogspot.com), will take a lively look at art history and discuss the knack of art collecting. New collectors and art lovers welcome!

Other educational components during Plein Air–Easton!  include lectures, art demonstrations and master classes. Artists presenting workshops and demonstrations include Lee Boynton, Gavin Brooks, Fabiano Cafure,  Louis Escobeo, Pam Foss, David Grafton, Joe Mayer, Raoul Middleman, and Camille Przewodek. Festival also features photography contest, live music, outdoor theatre by the Maryland Shakespeare Festival, and much more. Most events free and open to the public.
