Deanna Schwartzberg
Dream Traveler
Mixed media on canvas, 78" x 72"
Figure as Metaphor series
In her latest series, Deanna Schwartzberg uses the human form as
an expression of an elemental force such as dawn or dusk, or as
the subject of a dreamlike state. Through an irregularly shaped
canvas of multiple panels, she creates an abstracted environment
from which the figure emerges. In Dream Traveler, as in all
works in this series, the figure is seen as rising, falling,
floating or suspended, thus leaving the realm of reality and
taking on a more cosmic relevance.
Ms. Schwartzberg has been teaching abstract painting in the
Washington area for many years. She graduated from New York
University with a BS in Art Education and went on to study
painting at the Art Students League of New York with a student
of Hans Hofman. Deanna has exhibited widely and her work can be
found in numerous collections both public and private.
Her work is featured at Ozmosis Gallery April 5-May 7.
