Joan Konkel
Niagara
Triptych, 126” x 60” x 8”
aluminum, screen & acrylic on canvas
Using primarily aluminum, screen and paint, Joan Konkel’s
current work originates from the confines of a canvas and
explores space, light, the manipulation of planes, and
three-dimensional color. The materials she chooses guide her
works, which have evolved into Minimalist and Constructivist
wall pieces.
Joan Konkel was raised in Northern California, where she
attended San Francisco College for Women, earning a BFA and an
MA. In 1980, she received an MFA in sculpture from George
Washington University in Washington, DC, where she now resides.
Joan’s work is featured at Zenith Gallery this month in the
exhibit Forged and Fabricated, along with the work of sculptor
Patrick Cochran.
